What is presbyopia

IPresbyopia is a refractive eye condition that causes difficulty in adjusting from distance to near vision.

It appears after the age of 40 with more intense difficulty in reading, especially when there is low light, our eyes to be able to see a nearby object will have to adapt, this is done with the help of the muscles that surround the crystalline lens and can be easily adapted , as we grow older the crystalline lens hardens and loses its elasticity and cannot change shape and focus on close distances, resulting in us not being able to adjust our vision to near objects

symptoms

Blurred vision at a short distance for example when reading a book, headaches, burning sensation in the eyes after long hours working in front of the computer.

People who work in offices or have to do with other nearby activities in their daily life, realize the symptoms of presbyopia earlier than others. The appearance of presbyopia symptoms occurs earlier in hypermetropies and much later in myopes.

How is presbyopia corrected

Presbyopia correction is done with biconvex (positive) or divergent (negative) lenses that are placed on a frame and help the eye to focus clearly
